The "Mabuhay Awards" is a yearly recognition awards program by the Association of Human Resources Managers in the Hospitality Industry (AHRM). The program recognizes outstanding rank & file, supervisors and managers  from its member establishments.     

Respected industry leaders are invited to judge the best candidates guided by a very high criteria standard that
balances both the job knowledge and skills as well as
  the behavioral aspects of each candidate.

The “Mabuhay Awards”, the most prestigious service excellence awards in the hospitality industry was launched at the Edsa Shangri-La Hotel last August 14. The officers of the Association of Human Resources Managers in the Hospitality Industry (AHRM) were present to orient this year’s board of judges on the strict selection criteria. The Mabuhay Awards night is scheduled on October 27 at the Edsa Shangri-La Hotel. Shown above are the judges (seated left to right): Fr. AHRM also bestows the "Mabuhay Gold Award" every year to a Filipino Hotelier/Restaurateur who has greatly contributed to the uplifting of the Filipino Hoteliers'/Restaurateurs' mark in the international hotel and restaurant industry. Among those bestowed with the Mabuhay Gold Award are:

1996 Mr. Perfector F. Quicho A graduate of De La Salle, Mr. Perfecto F. Quicho started his hotel career at the Hotel Aurelio. He joined the Hyatt Regency Manila in 1973 where he rose to become its Resident Manager. He moved to Hyatt Regency Vancouver as Resident manager and was only 32 years old when he became General Manager of Hyatt Regency Thailand. He has the distinction of being the very first Filipino manager to become a General Manager of an international de luxe hotel chain in the Philippines, when he became General Manager of the Hyatt Regency Manila from 1984 to 1992. He is currently owner of the very popular Giraffe Bar & Grille in Makati.
1997 Mr. Larry J. Cruz Restaurateur. Tourism industry leader. Writer and Publisher. Mr. Larry J. Cruz is all of these and more. He comes from a family of writers, his father being the distinguished writer-painter and former UNESCO Ambassador Emilio A. Cruz, and his mother Felicidad de Jesus who wrote for the pre-war Graphic. He was HRAP (Hotel & Restaurant Association of the Philippines) President for 8 years. Aside from HRAP, Mr. Cruz is also the Chairman of the Hotel and Tourism Institute of the Philippines. President of the Tourism Industry Board Foundation, the former President of the Asean Tourism Association or ASEANTA and Charge de Presse of the Chaine de Rotisseurs. He owns and is actively involved in managing his 14 restaurants and theme bars here and abroad, aside from being the Editor-In-Chief of Metro Magazine and the Philippine News Agency.
1998 Doña Trinidad Diaz-Enriquez Born on May 27, Doña Trinidad Diaz-Enriquez is fondly known by her employees as Doña Trining. Her hotel and restaurant empire started as a small ice-cream parlor cum snack shop which she and her husband put up after World War II. This humble start gave birth to a chain of restaurants, cafeterias and catering services (including airline catering), and later to hotels such as the Sulo Hotel, the Philippine Village Hotel, the Grand Boulevard Hotel and the Puerto Azul Beach Hotel. She was the first woman President of the Hotel & Restaurant Association of the Philippines (HRAP). In 1981, she was given the "Les Dames d'Escoffier" award which is a hotel service award given to only nine women by the Grand Hotels of the World in New York City.
1999 Mrs. Glenda Rosales-Barretto Via Mare at the Greenbelt Square is one of Manila's famous seafood specialty restaurants.And behind the success of Via Mare is Glenda Rosales-Barretto. Glenda was the President and currently the Vice President for Restaurant Division of the Hotel & Restaurant Association of the Philippines (HRAP) and President of the Hotel and Restaurant Tripartite Consultative Board (HRTCB). Her international affiliations include membership in the L'Orde Mondial de Gourmets Degustateurs based in Paris, the National Restaurant Association USA, the Asean Hotel and Restaurant Association, Les Chaine de Rotisseurs Baillage National de Philippines and the Les Tóques Blanches Philippines. Presently, she is the Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of Via Mare Catering Services, Inc., President & Chief Executive Officer of Pizza Inn Philippines and Sunrise Restaurant of the Philippines and President of Pagsanjan Rapids Hotel in Laguna. Among Glenda's numerous awards are three silver medals from the International Menu Competition at the NRA in Chicago, USA, and the Restaurateur of the Year Award in 1986 given by the HRAP. She has served in the panel of judges for several culinary competitions, including the very prestigious Bocuse d'Or Culinary Comptetition International where she was the first and only Filipino judge invited.
2000 Ms. Guillerma           
          Gabor
Popularly known as "Mina" to her friends and colleagues, she served the Philippine government as its Secretary of Tourism from 1996-1998, where she was able to achieve an 8.5% increase on tourist arrivals. Mina is also the one who conceptualized and organized the annual Kalakbay Awards, of the Department of Tourism which gives recognition to deserving companies and individuals in the Tourism industry.

Among her many awards are the Philippine Legion of Honor, the highest award given by the President of the Philippines to a citizen for exemplary contributions to the development of the whole country; she is one of the Twelve Outstanding Women in Government; Centennial Awardee as one of the 100 Outstanding Women of the Phils., the Filipina First Award of Honor; one of the Most Powerful Women in Travel, and Travel Personality of the Year Awardee.
